However, some people say that the side effects are just short term and the benefits received are really worth.

Also a Social anxiety behavior can lead to take alcohol and drugs, sometimes that is used as a way to get rid of fears and anxiety and interact with others in the same situation. What i would recommend if you have this disorder or someone in your family is to visit a support group. There are groups of people that get together to share their problem and experiences with social anxiety and how they overcome it.
